A strong, pure color, red tends to bring a sense of formality to a living room and can create a killer look that not many are brave enough to try. However, be mindful, it draws attention and will immediately pull focus wherever you use it. In other words, it’s safe to use on a beautiful corner or chair but not for home zones which are messy or in desperate need of TLC. It works like a dream against a neutral, gray palette (spicing it up from boring-ville) or we love it also in a crisp white room. The most energizing of all colors, use it only as an accent tone. A touch is sexy but used out of balance, it will become overwhelming.

Silken Favours, Pomegranate Silk Shaped Cushion

Can a cushion really change a room? Yes. Made in London, this pure silk cushion will spice up a bland armchair and looks so unique.

Design Within Reach, Nelson Marshmallow Sofa

This iconic sofa design pre-pathed the whole 60’s pop art movement. It looks cool and unexpected in a gray toned room.

Serena & Lilly, Emery table Lamp

$199.99 (was $398)

Geometric fixtures are one of the hottest lighting trends right now. Use this to transform a dull side table and tie it in with bright red accessories (the throw and book below will offset it beautifully).

Herve Gambs, Red Couture Large Roses & Small Black Glass Cube

Made in Paris, Herve Gambs faux roses look beautiful as part of a table top vignette. We love this paired with on-trend coffee table books.

jonathan adler, chevron alpaca throw

Guest rooms are probably our favorite ever room to decorate! As no-one has to live in them long-term, you can go bold. We’d start with this intoxicating (and oh-so-soft) alpaca throw from Jonathan Adler on the bed.

Design Within Reach, Murano Glass Chandelier

A Murano chandelier always ups the design appeal of a room and looks very 'in the know'. In this shocking crimson tone, the scale and artisan design of this light fitting will bring a new layer of cool into your space. Very Architectural Digest.

Assouline, Dressing for the Dark: From the Silver Screen to the Red Carpet

Celebrity stylist Kate Young's book of inspirations is full of red carpet looks. And makes a sophisticated color flash on the coffee table.

Kate Spade New York, Gramercy Animal Print Rug

$126 – 1400

Is your room decor looking a little flat? Freshen it up with this super stylish rug from Kate Spade New York. It adds instant high-end appeal every time.

Opaline, Orb Glass Candle

$31 (was $44)

We love this new orb candle design as a bright centerpiece in the dining table. It reflects light beautifully.

ANTHROPOLOGie, Linen Edlyn Grand Ottoman

This is a jaw-droppingly beautiful ottoman from Anthropologie. Pair with some neutral sofas and lots of coffee table books for a sophisticated look.
