February is Oscar season! From Queen Latifah to Fergie, Tina Fey, Sigourney Weaver, Jane Fonda or Sharon Stone; David Meister’s red carpet gowns are sought after by the Hollywood elite. For the first time ever he shares exclusively for The Chosen Club where he finds his creative inspiration in Los Angeles...
Of another time and era. Modeled on the Chateau d'Amboise in France's Lore Valley, it remains untouched and has a great young, cool vibe filled with chic people sipping drinks and dining in the beautiful, magical garden.
Sunset Tower Hotel and Bar
This is Old Hollywood Glamour at its best, from the flawless deco architecture to its glamorous interiors.
WALT DISNEY MUSIC HALL
This Frank Gehry designed building is a modern and sexy combo of undulating curves and forms, texture and shine; stretching the notion of classical architecture. Listening to the LA Philharmonic is quite amazing here with its flawless acoustics. This is a perfect backdrop for glamorous people to make an entrance.
I love art, especially contemporary art. Art speaks to all of us and inspires in different ways. The Broad is based downtown and in a word is - SICK!
Designed by Richard Meyer this a special spot. Inspiration abounds not only in the fantastic art collection but also in the architecture, gardens and views.
Mann's Chinese Theater and Hollywood Walk of Fame
This choice may sound cheesy but this is really one of the places that red carpet glamour really started. You can almost feel the past and the klieg lights flashing while sitting in the beautiful theater. Looking at the hand and footprints takes you back to another time. I have loved the glittering and twinkling sidewalks ever since I came to LA for the first time when I was 18.
My inspiration for design comes from so many sources. Books
of all kinds are essential to me for inspiration. Book Soup is a jewel
on Sunset Boulevard and is a neighborhood fixture; West Hollywood is
lucky to have it.
ROLLERBLADING ON THE BEACH
Often the best ideas come to me when I
am outside by the beach enjoying the water, view and sun.
Palm Springs Pool
Back to mindlessness. Floating at a pool at
sunset with a martini, nothing is more inspiring.
Hiking up Runyon Canyon is a great escape. Amazing views, lots of cute dogs and time to quietly think.
